Parables 
A few members joined with others from the circuit to watch a dramatic presentation by "Three in One Productions" from Coventry at Ropewalk Methodist Church. The title was "Parables- Holy Tales with a Twist" in which several of Jesus' parables are linked together to form a continuous 70 minute presentation.
A good time was had by all- with underlying lessons to be learnt

Jesus talked in pictures to the crowd
To paint his stories clear and loud
He used simple example with a naive theme
In order to illustrate and set the scene
His stories had a depth unseen
Contemplate and find what they mean
Although written long ago
They still show the way to go

CHRISTINGLE SERVICE 2009
Following a Christingle making session at which other craft activities also occupied our younger people and visitors, a service led by Rev Helen Harrell finished with the lighting of the candles.

Oh and we ought to mention that all had a scrummy tea!
Operation Christmas Child
49 shoe box's of gifts have been donated to Samaritans Purse for distribution to children in need. Many thanks to all those who gave and to those who organised the collection.

Showstoppers Holiday Club
A fun time was had by all (adults and children alike) at out recent Showstoppers Holiday Club. We learned new songs, played silly games (including with water- Nigel's feet got very wet!), watched a daily Bible story acted out on screen and enjoyed a range of creative activities including building a 9 foot high Goliath, making creation mobiles and designing our own Showstoppers T-shirts.
Our special Showstoppers service is at 10-30am on Sunday 6th September.

Palm Sunday Weekend
Several folks from Upton attended circuit weekend events where John Bell of the Iona Community was guest speaker and leader.
He conducted seminars on Saturday on 'Why God's People Sing' and 'The Hidden Humour in Holy Scripture'. He preached at the Sunday service which brought together many of the churches in the circuit
